The Appinions team is led by a dynamic group with nearly a century of combined experience in business, information science, language processing and much more. In our quest to build a better, smarter and more scientific influence measurement platform, these are the people who led the charge to where we stand today.

Larry Levy, Co-Founder, CEO
As a serial entrepreneur, Larry brings a wealth of hands-on experience. Prior to Appinions, Larry served as co-founder and CEO of Semagix Group, which was sold to Warburg Pincus in 2006. Larry was also the founder and CEO of Protégé Holdings, recognized as an “Upside 100” company, as well as the founder of Citria and Delrina Europe. He holds a BCom and BAcc from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and is a chartered accountant CA(SA).

Jon Bond, Senior Marketing Advisor
Jon is one of the industry’s visionaries and thought leaders. Jon is the CEO of Big Fuel, the largest social media agency in the world. Before Big Fuel, Jon was co-founder and CEO of Kirshenbaum Bond and Partners, now MDC Partners-owned Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners. He also co-founded Iballs, one of the industry’s first digital media agencies. In 2010, Jon was voted number four in Adweek’s Executive of the Decade poll. He has also served on the board of the AAAA, the Ad Council, Advertising Week, and was chairman of Worldwide Partners, the 10th largest global agency network with offices in 63 countries. Jon is also a board member of the charity God’s Love We Deliver.

Dr. Claire Cardie, PhD, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist
Dr. Claire Cardie is a respected professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Charles and Barbara Weiss Director of the Information Science program at Cornell University. Her primary research is focused on natural language understanding and intelligent text processing, with the goal of developing algorithms and systems that will vastly improve a user’s ability to find, absorb and extract information from online text. Dr. Cardie has a MS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BS in Computer Science from Yale University.

John Mitchell, Chief Revenue Officer
John Mitchell has more than 25 years of experience leading sales and marketing in companies focused on technology solutions and consulting services. Most recently, John has been vice president of global sales and marketing at Asset Control, a Fidelity Ventures company. Prior to Asset Control, he was vice president of sales at Fortent, and previously with Equifax as group director and senior vice president of Europe. John spent 19 years at IBM in London and New York, where he managed a strategic consulting practice for financial institutions worldwide following a lengthy IBM career in sales and sales management.

 

Dr. David Pierce, PhD, CTO
Before Appinions, Dr. David Pierce served as the Principal Research Scientist at General Dynamics. Prior to his role at General Dynamics, Dr. Pierce was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Buffalo. He holds a MS and PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University and a BS in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
