Study: Who Are the Most Influential CMOs?

Today, we’re proud to announce that Appinions has partnered with Forbes to bring you the first annual study analyzing the influence of Chief Marketing Officers.

This brand new study is the first of its kind. Using the Appinions platform, we were able to dive into the opinions of CMOs, looking at trends and topics as they compare with others across Forbes‘ Leading 100 Brands. In analyzing their thoughts, regardless of subject matter, we are able to find out which CMOs are most influential and how they stack up against each other.

The data for this study, which was collected between August and October 2012, uncovers some interesting insights about their preferred subject matter, reach, and overall level of influence. Our study also uncovered that CMOs were often overshadowed by lower-level marketing managers and directors.

Our study explores several important questions about CMO influence across the web, including:

  • Who are the most influential CMOs?
  • What makes the 29 influential CMOs we identified so influential?
  • What influences the CMO?
  • Why are so few CMOs influential?
  • Why is tech so dominant?
  • Why do the marketers below the CMO often rate higher on influence than the CMO?
  • Should CMOs attempt to influence consumers directly?

You can read more about our study in today’s Forbes article or you can get all of our findings by downloading our free report right here.
